2004 год. Концерт в Англии.

Джерард со скучающим видом сидел на стуле, закинув ногу на ногу, и пялился на входную дверь, из-за которой уже как несколько минут должны были появиться ребята. Всегда после концерта они оставались на сцене, чтобы собрать свои вещи, протереть струны гитар, но Уэй давно догадывался, что они просто болтали. Всегда обещали ему прийти через пять минут, а приходили через час. Джерард обреченно вздохнул и прикинул, чем можно развлечься в гримерке. Честно говоря, он не любил эти комнаты; в них всегда пахло потом, да и были они слишком маленькими. Но эта гримерка ему симпатизировала. Она была уютнее других, и зеркало было чище.

Внезапно Джерарда посетила мысль о рациональном использовании стула. Одной ногой оттолкнувшись от пола, а другую согнув в колене, он принялся кружиться, словно на карусели. Через некоторое время его голова закружилась так, что стены комнаты начали плясать буйные танцы у него перед глазами, поэтому пришлось забыть и о таком виде развлечения. Джерард еще раз огляделся. Не утруждая себя поворотом к столу, брюнет нащупал на нем несколько карандашей и, нацелившись на мишень, начал кидать их, словно дротики, в пустую кружку. Ни один не попал, но Уэй решил не сдаваться, поэтому засунул руку в коробку с медиаторами и продолжил развлечение. Во время решающего броска, дверь распахнулась, и в гримерку ввалились четыре счастливых парня. Улыбка мгновенно улетучилась с лица Рэя, стоило только ему посмотреть, чем занимается Джерард.

На самом деле он был рад, что его наконец-таки спасли от одиночества и тоски.

Фрэнк одобрительно хихикнул, но в следующий момент запнулся о пустую кружку с кофе и чуть не растянулся на полу.

Уэй широко распахнул глаза и треснул себя по лбу: «Черт возьми, здесь был компьютер!». Тем временем Боб и Рэй снова куда-то ушли, оставив Фрэнка наедине с Джерардом.

— Смотри! Вот Рэй, Боб, Майки, мы с тобой…

Фрэнк победно зыркнул на Джерарда, обратив самооценку друга в прах. Уэй цокнул языком, устроился поудобней на стуле и принялся читать комментарии, смысл которых заключался в следующем:

«Я так и знала, они отличная пара»

«Какие горячие штучки»

«Это так мило, надеюсь, они сыграют свадьбу»

Лицо Джерарда вытянулось до неузнаваемости, но стоило ему посмотреть на Фрэнка, на итак продолговатом лице отразился неподдельный страх. Айеро дьявольски улыбался и коварно потирал руки.

— Как у тебя с грамматикой, Джерард?

По непонятной причине, Джерарду передалось настроение Фрэнка, и его губы сложились в демоническую ухмылку.

— Тогда напишем о том, как мы занимаемся сексом.

Джерард подавился воздухом и чуть не упал со стула. Хорошенько прокашлявшись, он смерил взглядом Фрэнка, потом посмотрел в зеркало на себя, потом снова перевел взор на Фрэнка, вспомнил о поцелуе во время концерта и выпалил:

— С тобой? Нет уж, только целоваться.

Фрэнк обиженно надул губы и открыл текстовый редактор.

— Ну ладно, занудная задница, как хочешь.

Через час парни гордо перечитывали текст в документе и обсуждали сюжет, которого, в общем-то, и не было. За это время Рэй и Боб несколько раз возвращались в гримерку то вместе, то по отдельности, но никому из них не было дано понять смеха и воплей, доносившихся от Фрэнка и Джерарда.

Айеро заботливо проверил рассказ на наличие несуразиц и начал думать, где бы его опубликовать. Внезапно в его светлую голову пришла еще одна грандиозная, но вместе с тем ужасная мысль: они не придумали название.

— Эй, как мы назовем это? – бросил парень Джерарду, меряющему комнату шагами.

Фронтмен резко остановился и пригладил рукой волосы, затем подошел к компьютеру и пробежал глазами по тексту.

— Давай возьмем часть твоего имени и моего, мы же вроде как вдвоем этим занимаемся…

Фрэнк повертелся на стуле, в уме прикидывая варианты гибридного имени.

-Пусть будет Фрэрард!

2010 год. Концерт в Англии.

Джерард сидел на стуле и прикидывал чем бы ему заняться в этот раз. Опять. В миллионный раз его оставили одного. Побурчав что-то себе под нос, он начал оглядывать такую до тошноты знакомую комнату. Когда-то она казалась ему самой лучшей гримеркой, но после того как их группа объехала весь мир, он был уверен в том, что эта комната во многом уступает остальным. К его счастью, на этот раз ребята пришли через пять минут после концерта, как и обещали. Джерарда такое событие даже удивило. Фрэнк лбом вышиб дверь и, как всегда, запнулся о пустую кружку.

Джерард злорадно похихикал, поднялся с насиженного места и вышел из комнаты, прихватив чашку. Он планировал налить себе еще кофе.

Фрэнк, снова обругавший Уэя, окинул взглядом комнату, и тут ему припомнилась одна вещь, о которой он не вспоминал уже очень много лет. Закусив губу, парень подкатил к себе стул и опустился в него, попутно вводя пароль для входа в пользователь. Айеро слышал, как гудит толпа после концерта, не желая расходиться и как Джерард, по обыкновению игнорируя этот шум, наливает себе кипяток в кружку. Он никогда не любил закрывать дверь.

Перед Фрэнком возникла строка поиска, ожидающая начала своей работы, но гитарист никак не мог вспомнить слово. Айеро побил себя ладонью по макушке, полагая, что это поможет памяти пробудиться. И он не ошибся. С широченной улыбкой парень ввел единственное слово, но то, что он увидел заставило его челюсть отвалиться, а глаза выпучиться до нереальных размеров.

Сто. Сто тысяч страниц. Одно слово.

Фрэнк обернулся к открытой двери и будто бы не своим голосом выкрикнул:

Теория по фрэрарду: 2015 и подсчёт.

Думаю, Джерард не сказал Фрэнку всё на чистоту, по той причине, что Фрэнк убедил бы его сделать перерыв вместо того, чтобы положить конец. Первое, что сказал Джерард было: «Я не люблю возвращаться к прошлому, но если я могу сделать что-то старое опять новым, кто знает». В любом случае, это знак для меня, ибо это появилось только спустя месяц после того, как поебень с MCR притихла, и он говорил о том, чтобы сделать что-то «старое» новым снова. Новая концепция. Потом же, Guitar Hero. И почему он сказал, что группа не вернётся? Никто даже не думал об этом. Возможно, он сказал это из-за Фрэнка. Ведь Фрэнк знал, что Джерард будет уважать любое принятое им решение. На следующий день Джерард играл NaNaNa в Guitar Hero. Это было первое, связанное с MCR, что он сделал за два года. Он был в качестве представителя MCR, как Пит Венц представителем фобов. Он не обязан был играть песню MCR, была масса других песен других групп, что он мог выбрать. Но нет, он играл NaNaNa, представляя MCR.

Сейчас Фрэнк творит настоящую дичь в Британии. Он не любит, когда к нему прикасаются, а сейчас почти каждый вечер занимается крауд-сёрфингом. Он также просил кого-то в толпе купить ему пива и чуть ли не падал на пол. Думаю, что он так пытается привлечь внимание Джерарда. Так просто. И он добился этого. Днём позже stereoboard интервью было опубликовано, Джерард ретвитнул интервью Kerrang!.

Интервью в Kerrang! значительно, потому что Фрэнк в нём в ожерелье Джерарда из Danger Days. Также в этом номере Kerrang! говорилось об MCR и Guitar Hero. Джерард заметил Фрэнка (или своё) ожерелье и прочёл это интервью и интервью stereoboard, и Джерард знает, что Фрэнк загоняет себя в опасность. Ретвитом Джерард говорит Фрэнку, что он знает и что ему жаль. После этого Фрэнк больше не занимался крауд-сёрфингом. Он, конечно, спускался и пел с толпой, но, как я знаю, не крауд-сёрфинг. Конечно, мы не можем быть уверены, что это именно то ожерелье, но почему тогда именно это интервью? Почему то, где на Фрэнке подозрительно похожее ожерелье?

Фрэнк, помимо интервью, также делал странные вещи. Несколько дней назад я смотрела видео, где Фрэнк пел weighted, и он сказал «I’m not okay». Это всё напоминает о том, как Фрэнк узнал о свадьбе Джерарда и Линдси и вместо “trust me” спел «lie to me», после чего развернулся к джерарду и пробормотал «I’m not o-fucking-kay». Также на одном видео Фрэнк не пел строчку “I used to have a best friend now just one more enemy”, а просто покричал. Может это потому, что сейчас у них не такие плохие отношения, а поскольку Фрэнк поёт о том, что чувствует, они не пел этой части.

Вот что случилось. Я всегда говорила, что фрэрард будет одной из причин возвращения MCR, и сейчас фрэрард повсюду. Я не они и не могу обещать, что они вернутся. Я могу ошибаться, но я так не думаю.

THE ULTIMATE FRERARD THEORY!

Brace yourselves, this is going to be LONG. I’ve been writing it for about 2 years, haha.

The ultimate theory…

And of course, there’s this:
“I will assure you, Gerard is as close to genius as you could possibly get.”

Yeah, that pretty much sums up the spellbinding effect Gerard had on Frank. He seriously seemed in awe of him half the time and acted like a lovesick teenager. One time, Gerard asked Frank to write a ‘spy part’ for the guitar solo in The Sharpest Lives to which Frank immediately agreed, despite not having any idea how it should sound, because “that’s what you say to a dude you love and respect.” He was like Gerard’s pet, always desperate to impress him. Yeah, I know they were best friends and stuff, but I never heard Frank talk that way about Mikey, Ray or Bob… And let’s face it, there is a fine line between innocent feelings of admiration and deeper romantic feelings.

Frank has been openly more gay than Gerard since day one. He once said “I don’t want to label myself. I like people who are attractive at heart.” And then there was that time he casually mentioned he reads gay magazines. And he’s also admitted to being a ‘hopeless romantic’ who practically falls in love when people so much as smile at him. People. Not just girls, anyone. Oh and of course he’s been very vocal (and physical!) in his fight against homophobia, along with Gerard.

However, Gerard has always been pretty sly about talking about his sexuality, usually making some kind of gay joke (e.g. “Men or women?” “Men. Oh wait – women. My bad!”) or just avoiding the topic by saying like “people don’t know whether I’m gay, straight or an alien from outer space” and “I’m comfortable with my own sexuality.” He went through a code of silence, he admits that himself. Sly dog. (It was blatantly a marketing tool. Like his manager told him to never admit his sexuality because he needs to make himself seem open to male and female fans, kind of thing.) He did drop once in a really casual way “I’m straight” and I’ll admit the words came as quite a shock! There is no way in hell that man is 100% straight, whatever he wants to believe. But then, he was raised catholic and taught homosexuality was wrong, which he refers to in his lyrics: “they always said you’ll never get to heaven with a love like yours.” And deep down, I think he doesn’t want to be gay so he would satisfy his sexual urges and stuff out onstage with Frank, where he could pass it off as him just being a ‘show pony’.

He actually said once “I know my sexuality and my wife knows it too and she knows I have 100% respect for her” which basically translates as “I’m straight and Lindsey knows it, so messing around with Frank onstage doesn’t mean anything serious” BUT the funny thing about that is, he said it in an interview in 2007 after he married Lindsey, and there wasn’t ANY stage gay after that… He never acted ‘disrespectfully’ by kissing Frank onstage again since he got married, which just shows it was totally more serious than he was making it out to be. If it was no big deal and all in the name of making an anti-homophobia statement, why wouldn’t they just carry on? If it didn’t mean anything and their wives knew that then what’s the problem?

Now that’s the thing. They always made up various excuses about what the stage gay represented – i.e ‘anti-homophobia statement’ – but in an interview in 2010, Gerard said the kisses ‘just happened’ ‘in such a moment’ ‘when the adrenaline is so…’ (yes those were his greatly coherent reasons) which basically means, it wasn’t something they pre-arranged, like “hey let’s make a statement onstage tonight by making out!” it just happened. Because of the adrenaline and their lowered inhibitions. We know that with adrenaline comes an increase in recklessness and a decline in rationality – we have the courage to do what we want to do in that moment, to seek the thrill we so desperately crave. What does that tell you? It tells me that Frank and Gerard were powerless to their feelings for each other in those moments. The desire was stronger than their self-control. Gerard even said the words “I never act on stage” – thus, I conclude it was all real.

I used to think ‘oh if Gerard was gay, he would just say so, he wouldn’t be ashamed’ but I’ve since learnt that the man is a hypocrite and you can’t trust 90% of what he says, and now I’m more convinced than ever that he is a closet gay. (Remember when Bob asked if he’d come out of the closet yet? HA.) And I really believe that deep denial and fear about his own sexuality is where things went wrong for him and Frank.

So, when did he fall for Frank? Well, Gerard admired Frank from the moment he met him, for his passion for music and his work ethic in Pencey Prep and stuff; he said Frank was the “extra dynamite” they needed in MCR and that he “felt complete” with Frank up on that stage with him. The deep respect they had for each other was so strong at the start. In a way, I think they were both each other’s biggest fans. They both said on various occasions when talking about the other “he was born to be onstage” and they shared that intense passion and deep connection through music. I remember in an interview in 2011, Frank was asked what he brought to the band, and he was all “idk man” but Gerard was straight in there with like a full-on monologue answer:

Frank was Gerard’s main wingman since the very beginning – I swear he hardly ever left Gerard’s side for the first five years in the band. In interviews, it was always the two of them sat next to eachother (always listening intently and backing each other up), onstage always the two of them messing with eachother, and when they were out in public always the two of them walking together. Literally joined at the hip. I’ll always remember that 2011 interview where Frank tells Gerard he feels sorry for him for being the frontman and having to take the most pressure in the band, and Gerard smiles at him and says “I always have a wingman though.” Those two. They’re like Batman and Robin! (Gerard being Batman, Frank being Robin)

Gerard literally seemed to struggle to let Frank leave his side at all. They were always the two you would see together, doing their own thing without the others. And then when they were with the others, they were still just kind of in their own little bubble, just the two of them.

Frank basically just follows Gerard everywhere, and when Gerard isn’t giving Frank the attention he’s craving, he finds a way to steal it back by blowing smoke over him in a totally seductive manner.

Frank once said about Gerard: “It’s hard for him to not get attached to things.” And hey, he’s right, because Gerard became completely attached to Frank. Mentally, physically, emotionally.

Another thing I think Gerard needed Frank for was an ego boost. I swear to God, Gerard thrived on Frank’s attention – he just always wanted to be wanted by him, even if he didn’t necessarily want Frank in the same way. I think there was such a strong element of desire involved, and the early days of their relationship (the reckless days, pre-marriage) involved them acting on this lust they felt. Except, for Frank, it wasn’t just lust.

I’m sorry but Gerard even wrote a song about it! ‘You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison’ is THE biggest clue about the things they’ve done, my God. Gerard has stated quite bluntly that the song is about getting fucked in the ass in prison. But has he been to prison? No, no he has not. He’s been on tour though, which he has actually described as “being locked in a cell with his best friends” – and it’s obvious what kind of ‘cellmate’ Frank was to him, especially if you watch the way they used to interact onstage whilst playing that song (e.g. Gerard miming blowjobs at Frank, kissing him, touching him, smirking/staring at him). Some form of stage gay was almost guaranteed during that song. But what happened after their fall out? Frank took ‘Prison’ off the setlist.

Another clue about how close they became is that quote from Frank about how he and Gerard would wake up stuck to eachother covered in fake blood when they went through that whole ‘vampire’ era in the Revenge days. That’s pretty telling; it suggests they would sleep together, their bodies close enough to actually stick together. And let’s not forget that interview where Frank says Gerard slept naked when he slept with Frank. He made it sound like a jokey remark, but his body language was more telling.

I don’t think it was really a ‘thing’ until Gerard got clean and sober. I think they maybe had a few drunken nights together and stuff, living the typical rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle, but it wasn’t until the alcohol and drugs had worn off that they both realised they had feelings for eachother that weren’t wearing off. I think Gerard was just too scared and confused to accept it. For a long time, I think he tried to justify to himself that it was only a crush and it didn’t mean anything serious. It’s like that time he allegedly told Eliza his feelings for her were “just a crush” and “friends get crushes on eachother all the time”. I swear that was the motto he lived by with Frank and the way he handled his feelings for years. Just a silly little crush…

So while Gerard was in denial, I think Frank had already admitted to himself that he was in love with Gerard and that was how he could justify cheating on Jamia to himself. Because, okay, we all know Frank loves Jamia and he’s been with her since like before he went to college, but I think he was completely powerless to his feelings for Gerard, so when Gerard wanted him, he just couldn’t resist him. He was completely under Gerard’s control, desperately craving his love and affection. His heart was split in two. He even had on his myspace page ‘swinger’ as his relationship status, as like his jokey way of telling people he wasn’t in an exclusive relationship.

I think Gerard always knew deep down that Frank loved him – and he thrived off the attention. Became addicted to it. He became dependent on Frank in a lot of ways, I think. And it probably drove him insane that Frank wasn’t entirely his, but he just couldn’t throw his pride aside (note: he once stated ‘pride’ is his biggest deadly sin) and ask Frank to leave Jamia because he was too scared about making things between them official. He was still lying to himself. But when Frank got engaged to Jamia in 2006, I think Gerard went a bit off the rails and that’s why he rushed into engagement with Eliza – he never seemed serious about her, I think their engagement was a total rebound thing from his previous girlfriend, Kat, and a kind of competition thing with Frank. He was just scared of being alone.

The rest of the band never seemed to like Eliza much, except for Mikey, and I have my suspicions that Frank was the one who finally managed to talk Gerard out of marrying her; he had the upper hand, considering he pretty much owned Gerard’s heart at that point. Frank stepped in and proved that he cared, telling Gerard he was making a mistake, so Gerard dumped Eliza, and then, he had no one but Frank. I think he maybe became obsessed with Frank around that time because they were literally more inseparable than ever in the summer of 2007. There was definitely some man love going on there; they were all over eachother onstage and super close and flirty in interviews offstage (e.g. the ‘Gerard sleeps naked’ and the ‘magic, fireworks’ interviews).

Let me just add in here that he and Frank were at their hottest on that tour. Like, I’m not being a fangirl, I’m just stating facts. They were both so attractive and so attracted to each other. Frank grew his hair really long (which is something Gerard totally loved

I swear he has some kind of hair kink, because he was forever touching/stroking/pulling Frank’s hair onstage), etc.

But then, Gerard met up with Lindsey and everything changed. They met in 2003 and Gerard said they had feelings for eachother back then, but nothing ever happened because he was in a relationship at the time, so when they met again on ProRev they just picked up where they left off. He also said that when he found out MSI were on the tour he started dieting because he wanted to impress Lindsey. He was so quick to fall in love with her. Like, TOO quick. He rushed into it without even a second’s thought. He said himself it was like getting hit by a truck and I think he transferred all of his feelings that he had for Frank right into Lindsey, just because she was right there. She was single and she liked him, whereas Frank was engaged and Gerard wasn’t sure where he actually stood with him… It’s no wonder he chose Lindsey. He was too insecure in himself to ever be with Frank. He needed a woman, someone who made him feel like a man.

So after years of having Frank right there by his side, he started pushing him away. The excitement, the thrill of the chase was gone as soon as he had Frank eating out the palm of his hand, and he wanted another adventure with someone else. (A typical Aries man, if we’re being astrological.)

I think he was still lying to himself about his true feelings for Frank, and he was acting purely out of lust throughout the whole PR tour. He seemed constantly horny on that tour and it was like he just used Frank to relieve some of his sexual energy. And then, when he started dating Lindsey, he started drifting away from Frank. Throughout that tour, Frank was practically throwing himself at Gerard onstage at every chance he got, like he was trying to mark his territory or something. To keep Lindsey away. And to begin with, Gerard seemed okay with it. He even initiated some things himself by touching Frank and kissing him, etc. But towards the end of the tour, Gerard wasn’t initiating anything; it was Frank initiating everything and trying to take control. And yet, Gerard still had full dominance, always being the one to pull away first, and then, pushing Frank over onstage. Ah, the infamous ‘frerard fight’. The moment when everything changed.

It’s safe to say they were never the same after that.

So after Projekt Revolution, Gerard and Frank went their separate ways in love. How did Frank respond to Gerard marrying Lindsey? He married Jamia. (Again?) The competition was back on. Who could be the happiest in marriage? Who could get over who the quickest? Literally, Frank’s marriage is the one thing that confuses me most, because apparently he already got married to Jamia in 2006… but then what was that massive wedding ceremony in March 2008 all about? Renewing their vows? Making it official to the world? I don’t know, but it sure as hell was no coincidence that it happened just after Gerard got married. I have my suspicions that Frank confessed everything to Jamia – the years of cheating and lying, his deepest feelings for Gerard – and asked her for a second chance to prove his love for her properly. And ever since that wedding day in 2008, he has been nothing but faithful to her. He’s definitely more vocal about his love for her these days; he never used to mention her at all in the past.

But let us not forget ‘The World Is Ugly’. That shit came out of nowhere. Literally the month before Frank and Jamia were due to get married, we had Gerard suddenly bearing his soul onstage with the most emotional song he’s ever written. Why on earth was he so utterly heartbroken when he had literally JUST married Lindsey? Why was he singing lyrics like “I would say I’m sorry, but I really need to go” and “There’s an ache in my heart and there’s a burning in my eyes”? The song just screamed ‘frerard’. I think he was missing Frank and regretting pushing him away, second-guessing his decision to marry Lindsey. (And I think Frank missed him too, if the ‘I miss you terribly’ heart tattoo he got on his arm in 2008 is anything to go by.)

Can I also remind you at this point of the slogan Gerard came up with for SING: “Would you destroy something perfect, in order to make it beautiful?” Beautiful. The world is ugly, but you’re beautiful to me. He destroyed what he had with Frank and when their love became a tragedy, it became beautiful in Gerard’s eyes. He said around the time he wrote that song he was learning to see the beauty in everything… “The beauty in heartbreak.”

Ah, a bittersweet ending…

Cue angry, revenge-seeking, angst-filled LeATHERMOUTH-Frank, spitting lyrics like:
· He is a coward
· You’re full of shit
· You never gave a shit
· You’re living a lie, straight to hell… You’re coming to hell with me, motherfucker

There was a distinct kind of ‘fuck you, I’m done’ theme in every song Frank wrote with LM. Coincidence? I think not. Like, who else was he giving up on? Unless he had another secret lover that broke his heart conveniently around the same time that him and Gerard married their wives and the two of them became more distant in their friendship… It just all fits, okay. The change in them was the biggest clue of all.

I definitely think Frank lost his respect for Gerard after what happened. And not only because he felt like Gerard had messed him around and taken advantage of him for years, but also because Gerard was the one who decided at that time in 2008 that the band was finished too. Frank has said in interviews that he was just sat at home waiting for the call from Gerard that the band was over, so it’s quite clear who was in control of the situation. Even though it wasn’t the end of the band, it nearly was, and I think Frank blamed/resented Gerard for that too.

During the time the band were apart and Leathermouth were Frank’s main focus, he seemed to hit rock bottom completely. He put on so much weight and grew a beard to hide behind, he also became an alcoholic. I remember being so worried about him. A lot of fans were and I’m not the only one who believe it to be Gerard’s fault… Remember that fan who tweeted Frank asking if he’d gotten fat because Gerard didn’t love him back? Ugh I cringe just thinking about it… But that was another stand-out moment for me, because Frank had the perfect opportunity to deny the rumours once and for all and he didn’t. Why didn’t he say “lol who said I love Gerard?” or something along those lines, y’know?

That’s another point in itself. Their refusal to discuss the topic and put the rumours to bed indefinitely. Very shady. Never once did I hear either of them say “frerard is gross” or “frerard is just a fantasy made up by fans”. That’s not just them not knowing what’s being said because they sure as hell knew everything we were saying.

It took them a long time to get the band back together, and when they finally did, they spent a year writing an album that they ended up scrapping (and releasing 3 years later). Ah, the era of Conventional Weapons… I literally think Gerard just wrote an album full of songs about Frank and their past relationship and undying love. And that’s why he changed his mind about releasing it – he didn’t wanna tour that shit and go back to that dark place mentally every time he sang those songs. I know it seems like a petty reason, but look at it this way: he wrote those songs as a way of letting the past go and accepting what happened between him and Frank, and then he was done with it. He wanted to move onto the next stage of hope and happiness and colour: he needed Danger Days to stay sane and keep on going. And so, Conventional Weapons was tossed aside to become Frank’s own “secret playlist”. ‘Burn Bright’ and ‘Surrender The Night’, as well as ‘The World Is Ugly’, are the most telling ‘frerard’ songs of their career.

OH and can we just talk about Bob for a second. I know for a fact that Gerard was the one who kicked Bob out, I just don’t know the reason… But I have my suspicions Bob just straight up punched him in the face, haha. So yeah, he got the boot and that also destroyed Frank because he worshipped Bob and he was probably on Bob’s side about Gerard ‘being a diva’ but he didn’t want the band to end so he had to bite his tongue and get on with it.

From the studio to the stage…

On the World Contamination Tour, the closest they came to being their old lustful selves was when Frank was lying on the floor playing guitar and Gerard stood over him, so he thrusted his hips up (reflex? I think so), but literally seconds later, it was like his guard went straight up and he kicked Gerard in the ass to make him get off.

So the fact that Gerard was the one constantly going over to Frank and begging for his attention was the biggest clue that the tables had turned and Frank had the power over Gerard. I mean, even in interviews, Gerard tended to take more of a backseat than he did in TBP era, I would actually go as far as saying Frank was the main spokesperson of MCR towards the end. Gerard seemed lost; he tended to just look at Frank to answer the questions, and whenever he did talk in interviews, he still looked at Frank for constant back-up and support with whatever he said. Like he was trying to regain Frank’s respect by letting him take charge. He was so used to Frank being right there when he needed him.

Alas, regaining his respect didn’t work. In fact, I believe Gerard lost Frank’s respect completely for eternity when he ended MCR. The band that Frank lived and breathed. Taken away from him just like that. I know Frank had no say in the break up because he said himself he didn’t even know it was happening; he knew they were nearing the end but he found out officially from the statement on MCR’s website and was understandably furious. Once again, stabbed in the back by the man he once loved. I don’t think many people know how the band actually ended… I will just say this: it was Gerard’s decision, his betrayal to his fellow band members. But we all knew that Frank and Ray would never have given up on MCR without being forced to. It’s such an awful way to end such a perfect creation.

I think Frank knew it would always end this way, though. With Gerard going solo. Back in 2008, he wrote the lyrics in Leathermouth “you sound like you’re Dead Mike” (a guy in a band who ditched his bandmates to go solo). Gerard must have said even back then, after TBP, that he was done with the band and wanted to concentrate on his own stuff; we already know he tried to end the band but Frank talked him out of it. Well, Frank couldn’t talk him out of it this time, as he never even told Frank!

I’ve spoken to various people who were closely connected to the band and they all strongly believe that MCR isn’t done, they will reform. But they are all just thinking about the business side of the band, of the record label and stuff; they aren’t focusing on the real problem. Maybe they don’t want to admit the real problem is between two of the band members, but it is quite plain to see that it is. I think once that bond with Frank was broken and the respect was gone, Gerard couldn’t cope. It turned into an act for the cameras, to ‘leave the world blind and keep pretending’. He felt trapped. The lyrics for ‘Zero Zero’ are pretty telling: “I gotta walk away. You’re like a suffocation.”

I think the band breaking up completely broke Frank’s fragile heart. Remember the Christmas before they ended Frank released that ‘xmas sucks’ song and the picture for it was a red-headed doll on fire? I’m not even going to spell that out. And ‘This Song Is A Curse’ was 100% about the band’s inevitable break-up: “My friends, we can do anything, but should we if things get too hard? I’m trying to hold onto what I love and not mess up everything.” I truly believe Frank would have done everything in his power to keep MCR going and he can’t forgive Gerard for giving up.

It’s quite clear to see they aren’t friends anymore. They haven’t spoken to eachother publicly since the split, they don’t follow each other on Instagram… And I know Gerard wrote that long-winded rant about how people need to stop saying all of them aren’t friends anymore or whatever he was trying to say… But he never actually said it? He just skirted round the topic and didn’t take the perfect opportunity to end the rumours by saying “I spoke to Frank yesterday, we’re still close” or y’know something along those lines, so it was so unconvincing.

I could keep going with more signs and reasons why I believe in frerard but I think I made my point.
