Asuka Workout Routine: Train like Asuka from Neon Genesis Evangelion!

Is it crazy that this will be our first Neon Genesis Evangelion inspired workout at SHJ?
Because I think itβs crazy.
While there were a couple options among characters we could have started with: Asuka seemed like the perfect fit.
We could use a few more female characters here at SHJ to begin with β although we are also seeing Nikaido from Dorohedoro this week as well β so when I get the opportunity to prioritize a character like Asuka it makes life easy!
Sheβll join the tons of other characters within our Anime Workouts Database all also set us up for a new giant listicle Iβve been working towards with some of the most recent characters Iβve been bringing to the site.
Asuka Stats:
Real Name: Asuka Langley Soryu
Height: 5β1
Weight: 105 lbs.
Anime: Neon Genesis Evangelion
Powers: No
This height and weight range is for Asuka when she is 14 years old and is a guesstimate among fans.
That being said, when fans have done this in the past it has been fairly accurate!
Supergirl and Erza Scarlet were our shortest at 5β5 before Wasp came in at 5β4 and Kale, Anna and Nina Williams matching her there. BUT, now we have Caulifla at 4β8 and Sailor Moon at 4β11! Katana is just behind her at 5β2.
We had Wonder Woman come in standing 6β0 tall, Mockingbird and Hawkgirl at 5β9, Mystique, Miss Martian, and Sonya Blade at 5β10, and Storm 5β11.
But the average height for female celebrities on the site is generally more-so ranging from 5β4-5β6 β and our Black Widow is just above that at 5β7 with Spider-Gwen, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy at 5β8.
And, the tallest weβd seen before She-Hulk was Starfire at 6β4!
But donβt worry, either way.
Not only are these routines for all shapes and sizes β they also work for both men and women β regardless of the gender of the hero.
Asuka Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero, unless I mentioned differently (for example someone like Hulk may get something specifically different)**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I donβt think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You canβt out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but Iβll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
Itβs all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is whatβs important.

And, if you donβt know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
To get us started with Asuka weβre going to be pulling right from her Wiki Fandom to find out a little more about her.
Hereβs what they have to get us started:
Asuka Langley Sohryu is a 14-year-old fictional character from the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise and one of the main female characters. Asuka is designated as the Second Child (βSecond Childrenβ in the original Japanese versions) of the Evangelion Project and pilots the Evangelion Unit-02. Her surname is romanized as Soryu in the English manga and Sohryu in the English version of the TV series, the English version of the anime movie and on Gainaxβs website.
As for her skills, goals, and occupation: Iβll actually be pulling them all from a secondary Wiki Fandom page.
Hereβs what her Hero Fandom has to tell us about them:
Now nothing about Asuka necessarily screams: βBuild a workout around this characterβs skills and abilitiesβ, BUT her physique and appearance over time definitely give us something to work with.
For that reason weβll be working around a Beginner-Intermediate Level and mainly working in a cosplay/aesthetic area when it comes to how we build out this routine.
There wonβt be super high volume, but we will be utilizing weight training just because itβll be easier to control the changes we make to our overall physique if we do so.
But donβt worry, weβll keep it nice and easy and we have plenty of Calisthenics Workouts if you need them!
Minato Workout Routine: Train like The Fourth Hokage of Konohagakure!

Weβre back for even more Naruto to be added to our Anime Workouts Database!
Even though Naruto was one of the first shows (along with DBZ and MHA) to receive itβs own Mini Workout Database dedicated to workouts weβve built inspired by itβs characters: it still continues to have a ton of requests come in!
This is also helpful, though, because it also gets us close to a bunch of Naruto listicles that will help people find the best workout routine for them.
For example: Minato is a character that would definitely show up among some of the most popular Naruto characters there are, and possibly even one of the most powerful.
That being said, he will definitely make for a super fun routine to base around!
Minato Stats:
Real Name: Minato
Height: 5β9
Weight: 145 lbs.
Powers: Yes
Minato is technically short among male celebs, but average to above average compared to anime male characters.
Heβs also super thin at his 145 lbs, but clearly powerful regardless.

One Punch Man falls in at 5β9 right there with Ryu, Nightwing at 5β10, and then Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Green Arrow coming in around 5β11 and Beast joining them.

Minato Workout Routine Research

To start us off, as always, weβll be pulling right from Minatoβs Wiki Fandom page to get a bit of a bio.
Hereβs what they tell us about him:
Minato Namikaze was the Fourth Hokage of Konohagakure. He was renowned all over the world as Konohaβs Yellow Flash. He died during the Nine-Tailed Demon Foxβs Attack, sacrificing his life to seal a part of the Nine-Tails into his newborn son, Naruto Uzumaki.
Moving into his overall powers and abilities we can begin to get a feel for just how strong Minato is.
They break it down by stating:
Minato was one of the most powerful shinobi in history, considered by many as unmatched by anyone else. During the Third Shinobi World War, flee-on-sight orders were given to enemy shinobi should they encounter him. In the anime, he was able to single-handedly wipe out an army of one thousand Iwagakure shinobi β a feat that forced Εnoki to accept a peace treaty. During the Nine-Tailsβ attack on Konoha, it was only through Minatoβs actions that Tobi and the fox were defeated and the village was saved from destruction. Over a decade later, with the looming threat of Orochimaru approaching, Minato was believed to be the only one who could have stopped the Sannin, making his death deeply regretted. Minatoβs fighting style revolved mainly around suddenly appearing and just as quickly taking down enemies, often excluded traditional time-consuming methods such as hand seals.
Moving onto his physical prowess section we can begin to realize that weβre going to be training for speed.
They describe it like this:
Minato was hailed as the fastest shinobi of his time. While this recognition was due in part to his spaceβtime ninjutsu, Minatoβs natural speed and prowess with the Body Flicker Technique were immense: he could easily outstrip three other Kage-Level ninja and engage an enemy or retrieve an ally before anyone realised what he was doing; he could cover a considerable distance in a short amount of time and perform a technique before an opponent could finish theirs. In the anime, he appear before sensors could detect his approach and instantly defeat three shinobi with minimal effort. Minatoβs reflexes allowed him to react to and avoid techniques with no warning, such as Kamui and Lightning Straight.
Weβre going to be focusing in on agility and speed!
This means high intensity training, endurance work and sprints.
Get ready for high volume calisthenics mixed with a bunch of endurance style cardio to get us movingβ¦fast!
Jiraiya Workout Routine: Train like Narutoβs Godfather!

Jiraiya is one of my favorite Naruto characters.
After already seeing Minato this week (and weβll see a few more as well from Naruto); weβre definitely adding a good handful to our Naruto Inspired Workout Database.
Jiraiya will also be another character that brings us closer to lists showing off both the most popular Naruto characters AND the most powerful.
So, itβs safe to say our Anime Workouts Database is definitely looking better with his company.
Jiraiya Stats:

Jiraiya Workout Routine Research

Starting off with Jiraiyaβs Wiki Fandom bio we can gauge a bit about his character before moving into his powers and abilities section.
Jiraiya was one of Konohagakureβs Sannin. Famed as a hermit and pervert of stupendous ninja skill, Jiraiya travelled the world in search of knowledge that would help his friends, the various novels he wrote, and, posthumously, the world in its entirety β knowledge that would be passed on to his godson and final student, Naruto Uzumaki.
So we saw Narutoβs father and godfather back to back.
And both are extremely powerful as well.
Hereβs what his Wiki Fandom has to say about his overall powers and abilities:
Jiraiya was an exceptionally powerful shinobi, hailed as one of the greatest ninja of his generation and that Konoha ever produced. His true recognition came during the Second Shinobi World War when proved able to compete against HanzΕ and his giant salamander Ibuse, and was dubbed a Sannin. Renowned groups like the Uchiha Clan and Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist paled in comparison. Kisame Hoshigaki viewed Jiraiya as being leagues above himself, while Itachi Uchiha says if he and Jiraiya fought it would be a stalemate, even with assistance. He was offered to become Hokage three times, and would have been offered a fourth one had he lived longer. Kakashi, also among the most powerful shinobi Konoha ever produced, found the idea of Jiraiya being single-handedly defeated absurd. In truth, the assumed Akatsuki leader Nagato openly admitted that he would have lost had Jiraiya prior knowledge of the Six Paths of Pain, which Tobi felt is a major testament to the Sanninβs abilities. Upon death, he became one of the individuals Kabuto Yakushi most wanted to reincarnate for war. Decades later, Jiraiyaβs might was still revered as a clone was made of him.
They also continue on to talk about his Chakra and physical prowess:
Jiraiya has chakra reserves large enough to summon Gamabunta and chakra potent enough to use senjutsu. He was masterful with his chakra control, able to perform a Rasengan in both hands at the same time, or even carve messages with his chakra despite it being disrupted. He also was knowledgeable enough of genjutsu to teach others how to break free from it. His raw might is also considerable, able to fling Naruto several metres with a single finger tap. In the anime, he is shown lifting and throwing large boulders, as well as kicking away some of the Giant Multi-Headed Dogs.
Jiraiya was also remarkably resilient, able to withstand a lot of damage before going down. He could survive a full on kick from Might Guy with barely a scratch, and even attacks from summons as big as Gamabunta. Due to this resilience, he has only been brought to the brink of death twice: against Naruto Uzumakiβs Four-Tailed Form and Tsunadeβs monster strength, and even Nagato had a difficult time inflicting lethal damage on his old master using the Six Paths of Pain.
So for this one weβre going to be trying to get big and strong like Jiraiya.
Instead of training with calisthenics like weβve done in the past with a handful of Naruto characters weβre going to be using weight training for both size and strength, and then tack on a day for endurance and/or optional ninja-style training.
Naruto Uzamaki Workout Routine: Train like The Nine-Tailed Fox!

Naruto is one of the most popular anime there is, and that makes Naruto one of the most popular anime characters.
And, if youβve been around at SHJ for a while you know we have our original inspired Naruto Workout, BUT, this time weβre going to be hitting the weights to train like him.
Our original that started off our Naruto Inspired Workout Database (to join DBZ, MHA, and ATLA mini databases within our Anime Workouts Database) was built around basic calisthenics and it could be said that it was more-or-less built around a cosplay oriented outlook; but this time weβre going intensity, intensity, intensity!
Yes, you should be scared!
Naruto as a show has made it to the top of lists like The Top 10 Most Popular Anime of All Time and Best Anime to Watch on Hulu; and Naruto as a character has even made it to our Most Powerful Anime Characters of All Time.
So, weβre not messing around.

Naruto Uzumaki Workout Routine Research

Even though weβve been through it a bunch for our original article, I am still going to be pulling from Narutoβs Wiki Fandom to talk about how weβre going to be building out this routine.
Starting off with his bio, hereβs what his Wiki tells us:
Naruto Uzumaki is a shinobi of Konohagakureβs Uzumaki clan. He became the jinchΕ«riki of the Nine-Tails on the day of his birth β a fate that caused him to be shunned by most of Konoha throughout his childhood. After joining Team Kakashi, Naruto worked hard to gain the villageβs acknowledgement all the while chasing his dream to become Hokage. In the following years, through many hardships and ordeals, he became a capable ninja regarded as a hero both by the villagers, and soon after, the rest of the world, becoming known as the Hero of the Hidden Leaf. The big part of what weβre going to be working with, if it wasnβt obvious, is Narutoβs powers and abilities.
Thereβs a ton of information on Narutoβs Wiki Fandom page, and we wonβt be able to share all of it, but hereβs how they start us off:
Originally, Naruto was a rather inept ninja, failing to graduate from the Academy three times. Through sheer determination and training however, his skills rapidly improved to defeat strong genin like Neji HyΕ«ga, Gaara, and Kabuto Yakushi, earning acknowledgement from all the Sannin for his potential. Under various tutelage, Naruto was able to defeat various members of Akatsuki, ultimately earning praise from Konohagakure as a Hokage-material hero. Narutoβs personally defeated various reincarnated Kage and jinchΕ«riki during the Fourth Shinobi World War.
